Rachel’s Favs – Simply Fair Deodorant Review

March 26, 2018

These days, my blog has been all about minimalism, but today I’m mixing it up. Let’s talk about armpits. (seriously). I’ve made some major changes this year when it comes to simplifying my lifestyle, routines, etc, but I’ve also started being more conscious about the health and beauty products I use – most notably my deodorant.

Simply fair lavender love deodorant review – messy minimalistIt all started last June when I noticed a painful lump in my armpit. Yikes, right? My mother’s cancer started as a lump in one of her lymph nodes, so naturally I jumped right to the worst possible scenario. Skip ahead a week and a half, and the painful lump dissipated, but leading up to that time I’d done a lot of research on deodorants – since I was convinced mine had caused the “cancerous” lump.

Turns out, most off-the-shelf deodorants and antiperspirants contain all sorts of strange chemicals, including aluminum – which while we can’t be SURE is linked to cancer – many believe it is. But I’m no scientist, and I really don’t have an interest in trying to speculate what does and does not cause cancer. What I do care about is knowing what’s going into my body – and the less chemicals the better!

Simply fair lavender love deodorant review – messy minimalistAfter trying several natural deodorants, I finally found my stink-masking soul mate: Simply Fair Lavender Love. Now let me be clear: this is not a paid promotion from Simply Fair, I just genuinely LOVE this deodorant!

Sweet, buttery, and all-natural. This 5-ingredient deodorant is easy to apply and has a feminine, yet subtle scent. I’ve mentioned my deodorant a few times in various YouTube videos and I always get questions about it, so without further adu, here’s everything you need to know about Simply Fair Lavender Love Deodorant (including how to snag it for free!):

Here’s everything you need to know about it:

How do you apply it?
Using your index finger, you can scoop out a very small amount and rub directly on your pits. I found that it can get stuck under your nails if you scoop forward, so I actually push my nail back and let it collect on top of my nail. Then I separate it into two chunks and rub under each arm. (I usually use two fingers to apply it for better coverage).

Is it messy?
If you’ve been using a stick deodorant, then yes, it’s messy by comparison. But it’s really not bad. After applying it, I just wipe my fingers on a hand towel and I’m good to go.

Is it an antiperspirant?
No.

Does it continue working all day?
It really depends on how much you sweat and when you showered last. On warm summer days where I’m working outside, I may need to reapply it once during the day to freshen up. If it’s been a day or two since I’ve showered and I’m working hard, I might even take a washcloth and mild soap to my pits (mid-day) and reapply.

During the winter, one application in the morning usually does the trick. But again, everyone is different! Being an all-natural ‘balm’ deodorant, it helps to reset your expectations a bit.

Simply fair lavender love deodorant review – messy minimalistI’ve heard natural deodorants can make you smell ‘different’. How does this compare?
I agree, as it wears off, my body odor DOES smell different now than it did with stick deodorant. It’s funny though, because stick deodorant body odor always has this weird Taco Bell smell as it wears off (maybe that’s just true B/O??) , but as the balm wears off, you’ll notice your body odor is… well… different! It’s still an odor, but not teenage locker room bad.

How long does a jar last?
For me, a jar lasts about 4 months.

Where can I buy it?
I buy it online from Thrive Market for $8.99. (But it might be available at your local health food store, retailing for $12).

Simply fair lavender love deodorant review – messy minimalistYou mentioned I could try it FREE… How do I do that?!
One perk of being a blogger is getting awesome deals I can pass along to you. Woot woot! So to get my favorite deodorant at a sweet price – plus $60 FREE to spend on other items – head over to Thrive Market using my exclusive link. After clicking the link, your first stop will be a registration page, where you’ll enter your email. (This will give you access to their entire inventory, blog, and exclusive daily deals).
