Welcome to my blog, MessyMinimalist.com. I’m Rachel, AKA – the Messy Minimalist. You may have found me after watching one of my declutter-with-me YouTube videos, or perhaps you’re just discovering minimalism for the first time, and google helped you get here. Either way, I’m glad you found me. 🙂
“Messy Minimalism” is a concept I created after discovering minimalism many years ago. As I began a journey to simplify my life, I quickly discovered that no minimalism journey is created equal — And there were many of us who needed a different approach! I sought out to normalize how people really lived behind closed doors (which is… you guessed it, often times pretty messy!), and provide them with mental tools to help tackle clutter.
We’re done “living for a better tomorrow”. We want a better today. It’s why we dropped everything to move to this little town in Northern Michigan. And now that we’re here, we can’t wait to give you a glimpse into our adventures in innkeeping and simple living, Messy Minimalist style. There’s a lot to do…:)
Life is short. Life is good. And we plan to live it happily every step of the way.
Rachel Tompkins is a quirky, nature-loving, family-centric, and (somewhat messy) individual with a minimalist mindset. While enjoying a life of maximalism and a competitive career in creative advertising, she married her high school sweetheart and became a mother of two daughters. Rachel and her husband then decided to ditch corporate America to live a simpler life. They bought an old motel on Lake Michigan, and the rest is history….(Actually, it’s all right here, on this blog!).
